How to copy stop loss and take profit across prop accounts
The most common copy-trading surprise: your entry copies to every account, but the stop and target don't. Whether brackets copy depends on the copier and on which platform each account runs on. Here's what each tool's own documentation says.
Quick answer
| Copier | Do brackets (TP + SL) copy? | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Tradovate Group Trade | No bracket/ATM orders. Stop and limit orders can be entered manually for the group. Only works between accounts at one brokerage provider. | Tradovate support |
| Tradesyncer | Yes, one TP + one SL per entry. How depends on platforms: Tradovate/dxFeed followers get the full bracket; Rithmic followers get the entry first, then TP/SL after fill; ProjectX followers get market execution with no TP/SL on their own account. Not supported: multi-bracket, stop-limit, trailing stops, auto-breakeven, auto-trail. | Tradesyncer help |
| Tradecopia | Yes, simple brackets (single TP limit + single SL stop-market) in its default "On Submit" mode, across TopstepX, Tradovate and Rithmic. Not supported: stop-limit, multiple brackets, complex ATM strategies. TopstepX followers need Auto OCO Brackets on and Position Brackets off. | Tradecopia help |
| Replikanto (NinjaTrader 8) | Yes. FlowBots says it copies entries, exits, stop and target moves, cancellations, ATM strategies and OCO brackets to followers. Works with NinjaTrader 8 accounts incl. Rithmic and Tradovate; with a Tradovate leader it also copies orders from Tradovate web, mobile and TradingView. | Replikanto |
| TopstepX built-in copier | Orders are placed and managed only from the lead account; followers are blocked from trading directly. Followers need equal or larger max position size. Topstep accounts only. | TopstepX help |
Tradovate Group Trade: the manual workaround
Tradovate's own support page says Group Trade "does not allow for the use of Bracket / ATM orders, but stop and limit orders are able to be entered manually." In practice that means: enter the group order, then place a stop order and a limit order for the group yourself. There's no OCO link, so when one fills you must cancel the other. Group Trade also can't link accounts at different brokerage providers (source). If you need automatic brackets, use a third-party copier.
Platform matters more than the copier
Tradesyncer's matrix shows the same bracket copies differently depending on the follower: a ProjectX follower "has no TP or SL on its own account" because ProjectX's API doesn't allow brackets (source). If the copier disconnects mid-trade, that follower has no resting stop. Keep this in mind if you mix TopstepX/ProjectX accounts with Tradovate or Rithmic ones.
Trading from TradingView
Tradesyncer lists TradingView as a supported front end: you trade on TradingView with your leader account and it copies supported orders (source). The bracket limits above still apply to what reaches the followers.
Checklist before you go live
- Test one bracket on sim accounts and confirm each follower shows a working stop.
- Run only one copier at a time; Tradecopia and Topstep both warn that multiple copiers cause duplicate orders.
- Use a single TP and SL. Multi-target ATMs and trailing stops aren't copied by Tradesyncer or Tradecopia.
- Check the firm allows copiers at all: see prop firms that allow trade copiers and copying across different firms.
- Size each account to its own drawdown with the position size calculator.
Copier pricing is in the tool directory.
